Art to Art

Our students have excelled and won laurels on various platforms in Fine Arts. The finest talent of the College in Mehendi, Rangoli, Fabric Painting, Poster Making, Cartoon Making & Sketching was on the display in the Exhibition held on 5th & 6th December, 2K.

GYMKHANA

KHO-KHO.:

College Team has made HATTRICK by winning at the State Level on 3rd Time in Succession. The Trophy of D.S.O. (District Sports' Office) has been won on 18th year in succession.

The Junior College Team has also made the HATTRICK at the Inter-Collegiate Level .

CRICKET :

Vinayak Mane was selected to play for the Irani Trophy and was selected for the India - A Team ,

BOXING :

Samir Londkar (T.Y.B.A.) won Gold Medal and Nishant Chawda (F.Y.B.Sc.) won Silver Medal at the Inter-Collegiate Championship.

BADMINTON :

Nikhita & Sushil Sawant played at the National Level.

SHOOTING :

Charu Pragya (Junior College) broke National Record by 10 points to secure Gold Medal at All India Shooting Championship.

HOSTEL :

This year 59 students are accommodated in the Hostel. This year , during Summer Vacation, the facilities in Bath Rooms and W.Cs . situated on one side of the Building have been repaired and upgraded and the long awaited need has been attended to. The storage Water Tank on the ground and on the terrace are also being repaired to improve the storage.

LIBRARY :

A separate Library Building was constructed in 1965 -66 . It has three spacious halls with proper ventilation to accommodate a large number of students. It houses a vast collection of books and periodicals which are readily made available by the staff for the teachers and students. Currently, the Library is making its efforts to provide the Compuiter / Internet facilities to the students.

The Library is a nodal centre for the courses of Yeshwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik, in B.Lib Science & M.Lib. Science .

Every year the Library plays the host for Art to Art Exhibition of the College.

MAANAS :

The Psychology Association of our College was renamed in June, 1981 as MAANAS.

30th Auigust , 2K : Ms. Shailaja Mulye, spoke on "Careers in Psychology in 21st Century"

11th Septemnber, 2K : Dr. Nirmal Almeida spoke on "Rational Emotive Therapy (R.E.T.)
Dr. T.A. DeSouza Memorial Lectures.

N.C.C. :

The unit of the College is associated with 3rd Maharashtra Battalion (Boys) and 5th Maharashtra Battalion (Girls). The Unit takes pride in having sent 85 Cadets to the Republic Day Camp and Basic Leadership Camp till date. 9 cadetrs have been sent to various countries in exchange programme.

The activities of this year included

  1. a mock "Operation Vijay" : a semblance of battle front at Kargil
  2. aero-modelling
  3. FOUR cadets have been selected for Republic Day camp.

N.S.S. :

24th September, 2K : Foundation Day

4th December, 2K : Blood Donation Camp - 87 donors.

5th & 6th December, 2K : Camp for Blood Group Detection - more than 200 students took advantage of this facility made available.

ADIVASI PROJECT :

This year also students visit Vangni of the Adivasi Area in Thane District regularly on week ends to make children aware of the importance of cleanliness and learning to read and write.

N.S.S. CAMP :

Youth for Healthy Society and Development Camp.(Y.H.D.C.)

A 10 day camp included resident and non-resident students wherein the sessions for Yoga and Personality Development were the main features of the camp.

SCIENCE ASSOCIATION :

10th September, 2K : In the First meeting of the academic year was chaired by Dr.(Mrs.) Nisha Kelkar and Office Bearers were selected.

8th December, 2K : The Annual Science Quiz Contest was organised.

SOCIAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION :

8th August, 2K : Inauguration in the hands of the Principal(Dr.) P.M.Sule followed by a speech by Dr. Chiragra Chakravarthy, Vice President, Production and Policy Development,

Discount and Finance House of India and felicitation - students securing

First class at T.Y.B.A. Examination of the University.

29th November, 2K : A.D. Shroff Elocution contest.

TATTVADARSHAN :

That is "Vision of Truth or Wisdom " in the name of the Association formed Philosophy Department.

10th August, 2K : Inauguration and felicitation - students securing First class at T.Y.B.A. Examination of the University.

15th September, 2K : Visit to Chinmayananda Ashram at Powai for enlightening dispose on Bhagwat Gita for "Art of Living"

YOUTH FESTIVAL :

(Conducted by University of Mumbai.)

The One-Act Plays in Marathi and Hindi secured respectively Third Positions in their categories. The College gave outstanding performance in Western Classical Music, Marathi & English Elocution,, Marathi Debate and Monoacting in Hindi.

MALHAR FESTIVAL :

(Conducted by St.Xaviers College ).

The College secured "Runners of Trophy for Fine Arts" with Second Prizes in Prosthetic Make-up and Painting by holding Brush in Mouth.

We also won First Prize for Elocution in Marathi, Second Prize for Essau writing in Hindi and Third Prizes in Hindustani Vocal and Classical Dance.
